This is one of the greatest Stuart houses, with a fascinating history. It has featured on the BBC2’s “Hidden Treasures of the National Trust” (series 3, episode 4, available on iPlayer).
There is plenty to see and the house will be dressed for Christmas.
Weather permitting you can enjoy the gardens and riverside location. There is a café and gift shop, also a second-hand bookshop.
Information for anyone with mobility issues:-
Ham House has no lift. There is level access to the ground floor, café, toilets etc. 24 easy steps lead to the first floor. To access the basement area with the kitchens (and the first indoor bathroom in the UK!), there are 12 steps (fairly steep but with a solid handrail).
On the way back to Emsworth we will stop at Squires Garden Centre in Milford for refreshments and last-minute Christmas shopping. Squires has a large and comfortable café with delicious cakes (sampled by the organiser on a recce!). If you would like a cream tea or mince pie this will need to be pre-booked. Further details to follow. You can also buy plants ……
There are two prices for this trip:-
