Talk: Creating Movement whilst Frozen Still

Thursday 22nd October

Ben Pope will join us to provide a seasonal talk looking at the winter garden and how to achieve movement and interest during the cold months. The talk begins by looking at what gives a garden structure, interest and movement during winter, whilst exploring how to develop it.

It then moves onto identify plants that are of interest during the winter months, detailing any specific cultural needs or aesthetic uses.

Ben Pope has been in horticulture for22 years, and is currently leading a team to maintain and develop a private garden in West Sussex which includes a large walled kitchen garden, herbaceous borders, shrubberies, topiary, ornamental lawns, a floral meadow, water features, woodland and hedges. He has travelled to different countries, studying the various flora and garden styles. Alongside his role as Head Gardener, Ben enjoys lecturing at the Chelsea Physic Garden for The English Gardening School and West Dean College of Art and Conservation. He has recently gained the RHS Master of Horticulture and is a member of the RHS Herbaceous Committee.
