Talk - Ray Broughton

Ray Broughton

By popular demand, we invited Ray Broughton back to continue to share insights into organic gardening and his great gardening tips with a fact or fallacy slide show that required audience participation.

We are very grateful to Ray who gave a us an excellent, informative presentation where he shared top insights into organic gardening including:

  • how to prevent potato scab and other potato tips
  • the benefits of barley straw for a variety of uses in the garden
  • the advantages of the new introduction of lupins that do not require staking or seem to be susceptible to black spot
  • the value of tomato ketchup to the gardener

and many more tips and suggestions

Ray was delighted to take questions from the audience throughout his talk and as before, time flew past and the evening was over before he could impart more of his knowledge and wisdom.

Ray trained at Wisley and has been teaching a wide range of horticultural subjects full time, for over 40 years. In September 2000 the Chartered Institute of Horticulture awarded Ray the Fellowship of the Institute in recognition of his services to horticultural education.
