Peter’s talk entitled ‘Behind the Scenes at Chelsea’ was well attended and gave us all an insight into the world of Chelsea particularly for those that have never attended this iconic show that is widely considered the start of the London season. Peter’s presentation outlined how fashions for plants, as well as gardens, have changed over time and he highlighted some outstanding exhibits. He said that the show gardens are there for people to admire and treat as a form of theatre and performance. Peter has been accredited RHS judge of floral and education and scientific exhibits. He shared with us how judges are selected, how judging works and the criteria used to determine the medal class of exhibits. At the conclusion of the presentation, the floor was opened for questions and answers. Peter was thanked for attending and for his excellent talk.
